I'm working on a project that involves creating an alcohol awareness video. Can I use clips from movies in my project?
This video would be shown to a select group of new students every year.

Answer
You can use short clips from commercial movies. However, there are limits to amounts and duration:
- Movies: Up to 10% or three minutes, whichever is less
- Music: Up to 10% of an individual copyrighted musical composition. 10% of a copyrighted musical composition on a sound recording. However, no more than 30 seconds may be used without gaining permission from the copyright owner and/or publisher.
Multimedia projects that are educationally-related are only valid for a duration of two years from the date of creation. After the two year period has expired the content can no longer be displayed.
